This week the children in Nightingale class @FP made us all at Forster Park incredibly proud, as they took part in a coding workshop at the Apple Store in Bromley. The children were taught how to use Swift Playground, a coding app created by Apple. They amazed the creative directors as they completed level after level, mastering how to input specific codes and functions. They were all incredibly polite and even made friends with the security guard! They have already been invited back, so soon they will be learning how to develop their own emojis. Well done team!

  • YR3 Parakeet Class News @FP

    Thu 09 Oct 2025

In Parakeet Class @FP. we have been working really hard this week at adding two 4-digit numbers using exchanges. The children found this really tricky and we did lots of practical activities using dienes and place value charts. By the end of the week, we had made great improvements. Why don’t you get us to show you?

We love computing in Parakeet class and this term we have been learning all about animations. We made our own flick books to see how they work. Last week we made a storyboard for a simple animation and this week we will be using an ipad to make our animation come to life!

In music we have been learning how to find the beat and learn the song ‘Mamma Mia’ by Abba. The children love singing along. They have been getting better and better at the glockenspiels and we are beginning to sound brilliant!

History we have been learning all about ‘Vikings’. We have looked at how they lived, raided and travelled. The children worked in groups to create information posters which they then presented to the class.

  • YR5 Falcon Class News @FP

    Thu 09 Oct 2025

Falcon Class @FP have been thoroughly enjoying their Music lessons this term.

The children have been enthusiastically exploring the classic rock hit “Livin’ On a Prayer” by Jon Bon Jovi. They’ve not only sung the iconic melody but have also begun learning to play key parts of the song on the glockenspiel. Their confidence and musical skills are growing with each session!

Building on this strong foundation, the class has now moved into the exciting phase of improvisation and composition. Students are experimenting with creating their own musical phrases, rhythms, and melodies, and are beginning to write their very own music scores. It’s wonderful to see their creativity and teamwork shine through as they compose original pieces and perform them for one another.

Falcon Class are truly becoming young musicians!

In PE this term, the children have been focusing on developing their gymnastics skills — and what an exciting journey it’s been! They’ve been learning a range of gymnastic movements, including balances, rolls, jumps, and transitions, all while building their strength, flexibility, and coordination.

A special congratulations goes to Kaitlin and Ava, who have made outstanding progress — both have now mastered the front walkover! This challenging move requires confidence, control, and plenty of practice, and we are incredibly proud of their determination and achievement.

The whole class has shown great enthusiasm during our gymnastics sessions, supporting each other and celebrating one another’s successes. We’re looking forward to seeing even more progress as the children continue to challenge themselves and refine their routines.

Keep up the fantastic work, everyone!

‘I kept on trying and on that day – I finally got it – I am so pleased with myself and my achievement’ Kaitlin

‘I kept on trying and failing but on that day I eventually got to do it’ Ava

Year 2 Hummingbird class @FP – Inspired by Andy Goldsworthy!

This term, Year 2 have been learning all about the incredible artist Andy Goldsworthy. We discovered how he creates stunning artwork using natural materials such as leaves, stones, sticks, and flowers. His unique style often features beautiful patterns, especially circles and spirals, carefully arranged in outdoor settings.

After exploring his work and discussing what makes his art so special, we gathered our own natural materials from around the school grounds. Working in small teams, we planned and created our own Goldsworthy-inspired artwork, focusing on the shapes, patterns, and textures found in nature.

It was a wonderful opportunity to be creative outdoors, work collaboratively, and connect with nature—just like Andy Goldsworthy does! We’re really proud of our creations and hope you enjoy looking at them as much as we enjoyed making them.

Take a look at our amazing work!

Reception Duckling Class @FP Celebrate 'Our Beautiful Colours' and 'Black History Month'

This week, Duckling Class read the wonderful book “The Colours of Us” by Karen Katz. The story inspired us to think about how each of us has our own special, beautiful skin colours,  like honey, cinnamon, caramel, or chocolate and how these colours make our world so bright and unique!

As part of our Black History Month celebrations, we talked about the importance of recognising and celebrating who we are, where we come from, and the beauty in our diversity. The children created their own self-portraits, mixing paints to match their individual skin tones.

We had lovely conversations about how our skin colours are all special and how together, we make a classroom full of warmth, love, and pride.

We’re so proud of our Ducklings for celebrating themselves and each other, and for learning that every colour is beautiful. It was joyful way to honour Black History Month and the wonderful diversity in our world!

  • Year 1 Heron Class News @FP

    Wed 01 Oct 2025

Year 1 Heron class @FP: This term in music we became sound explorers! The Herons have been learning all about timbre – that’s the fancy word for the different sounds instruments make.

We met some instruments and learned their names, then listened very carefully to what made each one special. Was it a jingly sound? A boomy beat? Or maybe a smooth and gentle tune?

Then came the challenge… we tested our super listening ears!  Children had to guess which instrument was playing without peeking. There were lots of excited faces, some very speedy guesses, and plenty of giggles when the sounds surprised us.

The Herons are turning into real musical detectives – ready to solve the mystery of any instrument sound that comes their way!

  • YR4 Kingfisher Class News @FP

    Tue 30 Sep 2025

This half term, in Year 4 Kingfisher Class @FP, has been full of exciting learning across the curriculum. In Geography, we’ve been exploring rivers – learning how they are formed, identifying key features, and discovering some of the world’s most important rivers.

In History, we’ve stepped back in time to learn all about the Vikings, including how they travelled, where they settled, and what life was like during their time.

In Maths, we’ve focused on place value, developing a strong understanding of number and building confidence with larger numbers.

In English, we’ve enjoyed reading A Little Bit Brave, using the story to inspire our own writing and explore themes such as courage and friendship.

In PE, we’ve been working on our football skills, focusing on teamwork, coordination, and control. It’s been a fantastic half term, and the children should be really proud of all their hard work and enthusiasm!
