YR3/4 Starling Class News @FP
Wed 26 Jun 2024In Starling class @FP, our Art focus this term is Alberto Giacometti and sculpture. We have already learnt about his style of art and tried to recreate it using clay. We discovered we needed more support for the clay as our sculptures flopped down. This week, we are planning our own sculptures. Next week, we will be using metal wires and pipe cleaners to form the skeleton of our clay sculptures.

YR1 Hummingbird Class News @FP
Fri 21 Jun 2024The children, in Hummingbird class @FP, had an amazing day at Godstone Farm. We met lots of interesting animals and developed an understanding of our science topic ‘animals including humans’.
We were able to meet and touch different animals learning their names and observing their characteristics. We especially loved getting close to the animals during our handling session. When we return to school we will be writing a memoir of our exciting day.
In geography we have been thinking about how people’s jobs will impact on the clothes that they wear. We looked at farmers and discussed how their clothes would be different from a person who worked in an office and wore a suit.

YR1 Dove Class News @FP
Wed 12 Jun 2024In Dove class @FP, we have had a great first two weeks back at school and have loved sharing our holiday news.
We have been learning about poetry. We learnt about a poem called ‘The Crick Crack Crocodile’ which we created our own actions to and then performed to Reception who really enjoyed it. If you haven’t heard it already I’m sure the children could show you the actions at home. We looked at different styles of poems, some that were repeated poems and others that were rhyming. We then had a go at writing our own poems which will displayed in class.

Oakbridge Nursery news
Tue 11 Jun 2024Look at our hard working nursery children looking after our plants which are thriving in our garden due to the children making sure thay they have everything they need. Our plants are well watered (some are REALLY well watered), cared for by the children who planted them, and we’ve loved watching them grow. Have you realised how much our sunflowers have grown, they are are nearly as tall as US!
We’ve also been talking about how much we’ve all grown during our time in nursery. Our preschoolers are so ready for their next adventure into reception and we’ve loved watching them grow as much as the children have loved watching our plants grow!

YR6 Eagle Class News @FP
Mon 10 Jun 2024After SATs, the children in Eagle class @FP, could finally let their hair down and they enjoyed every minute being care-free. Both year 6 classes mixed together and played a variety of sporting games or just spent time outdoors talking or being on the swings and play equipment. The pack lunches were out of this world – I hate to think how much they will pack for our next day out on Friday 21st June.
We are learning life-skills in Eagle class. We will be looking at budgeting, all the various methods of payment, how to create a good credit score, savings and avoiding debt. The children have been fully engaged with all activities so far and are keen to ask questions ranging from, ‘Do you need to pay tax?’ to ‘How do you use cryptocurrency?’. I am sure all parents and carers will agree that these life lessons cannot begin too soon!
