Oakbridge Nursery news
Thu 19 Dec 2024What an Exciting Day at Nursery!
Our little learners had an unforgettable experience as we continued our exploration of vehicles! The fire engine came to visit, and it was an absolute hit with both the children AND the adults!
The kids were thrilled to climb aboard the mighty fire engine , explore all its cool features, and even get a chance to try spraying water on the nursery roof! It was a blast watching them have so much fun while learning about this important emergency vehicle!
Thank you to our amazing firefighters for making this visit possible and giving our nursery class such a hands-on experience!

An Elf Visits Duckling Class News @FP
Wed 18 Dec 2024This month, our reception classrooms @FP were filled with extra magic and excitement when Buddy the Elf made a surprise visit! As many of you know, Buddy is famous for his festive spirit and mischievous ways, and he certainly didn’t disappoint!
True to form, Buddy caused a little bit of chaos in the classroom. He knocked over some books, rearranged our supplies, and left a trail of glitter and candy cane wrappers everywhere! The children couldn’t stop giggling as they discovered the mess and tried to figure out what Buddy had been up to while we weren’t looking.
But the real magic happened after Buddy’s naughty antics. The children were so inspired by his visit that they couldn’t wait to write about it! They eagerly started crafting their own stories about Buddy’s adventures, from his playful tricks to wild winter wonderlands. The creativity was flowing, and it was wonderful to see how Buddy’s mischievous visit turned into a fantastic writing opportunity.
I’ve been amazed at the enthusiasm and imagination the children have shown. It’s been such a joy to watch them write and share their stories, each one unique and filled with creativity. What started as a fun-filled visit from Buddy has turned into an exciting writing journey, and I couldn’t be prouder of their work.
Buddy’s visit has truly been a highlight of our holiday season, inspiring the children to write, imagine, and dream. I can’t wait to see where their creativity takes them next!
Happy holidays from our class, and thank you, Buddy, for the inspiration!

YR4/5 Kestrel Class News @FP
Tue 17 Dec 2024In science, this half term, Kestrel class @FP has been learning about properties and changes of materials. They’ve learned how to identify different materials based on their physical properties; discover how to separate mixtures; about chemical reactions and why some changes are reversible and some are not.
In this science experiment – filtering dirty water – they were able to use their knowledge of solids, liquids and gases to decide how to separate a mixture.
In this lesson, children learned how scientists and engineers apply their knowledge to help provide safe drinking water. They learned why some water is unsafe to drink and consider natural ways it can be filtered and made ‘clean’. Children developed their disciplinary knowledge by creating a water filter from natural materials.
Why don’t you try it at home?

YR3 Parakeet Class News @FP
Mon 16 Dec 2024In Parakeet class @FP, we have been writing out own Christmas stories. We looked at characters, speech and using inverted commas and finally what would make an exciting beginning, middle and end. We used a comic strip to map out our story and told our ideas verbally to our partners. This week we have begun to write the stories and they are brilliant!
In art we have been learning about Surrealism. It is a style of art inspired by dreams and hidden thoughts. We created some surrealist art of our own. What do you think?
We have been busy singing our Christmas songs ready to perform to our parents and carers. Please come along on Thursday 19th December at 9:30am to join in with our singing! We will be sure to get you in the Christmas spirit!

Year 3 Pelican Class News @FP
Wed 11 Dec 2024In English Pelican class @FP have been creating our own stories based on the Aldi advert featuring Kevin the Carrot. We designed our new super hero vegetables/Christmas foods. We came up with a villain and an evil plan to ruin Christmas. We mapped out our stories and began to write them. We enjoyed writing these stories!
In Science we have been learning all about fossils. We looked closely at different fossils using magnifying glasses and then learnt all about how some fossils are formed. Did you know a fossil has to be over 10’000 years old to be called a fossil?!
We then made our own imprint fossils using shells and salt dough. How cool are these?

YR6 Hawk Class News @FP
Thu 05 Dec 2024Hawk Class @FP have been non-stop! We have been having so much fun in our run up to Christmas. Last week, some of us went to PGL and had so much fun, whilst others stayed at school and did various activities such as cooking, creating and learning all about William Shakespeare. This week, since coming back from PGL, we have been doing assessments. It has been a very tricky week, but we have been getting in that valuable assessment practise. Our results from September to now show we are making so much progress! We are doing so well!
In English, we have been continuing to look at the book “The Arrival” by Shaun Tan, and we have been planning to write a narrative. In Maths, we have been working on Fractions, and have been learning how to multiply them and divide them. Amongst all of our hard work, we have finished reading the brilliant book “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” which has been one of our favourite books so far! We give this a 5/5 star rating!!!!

Year 1/2 Heron Class News @FP
Wed 04 Dec 2024This week, our Heron heroes @FP put together all their learning about our studied artist L. S. Lowry, with our DT knowledge to make Lowry-style buildings! We worked with our partners or teams to use the junk modeling (thank you so much for this, parents!) to represent the shapes and features Lowry used in his art. Next, we will write accurate, ordered instructions on how to make them. We love our models, come and have a look at them!
