Rec Duckling Class @FP
Wed 29 Apr 2026Duckling Class @FP had a wonderful time during their visit to Little Foragers Forest School! The children spent the day exploring the outdoors, discovering nature, and taking part in lots of exciting activities.
One of the highlights of the trip was going on a bug hunt. The children carefully searched under logs, in the grass, and around the trees to see what creatures they could find. They were very excited to spot worms, woodlice, spiders and even tiny beetles! The children used magnifying glasses to look closely at the insects and talked about where bugs like to live.
The children also enjoyed exploring the woodland area, collecting natural treasures, and learning how to care for the environment. They showed fantastic listening skills, teamwork and curiosity throughout the day.
“I found a wriggly worm!” Hayden
“The beetle was hiding under the log!” Amir
“I liked looking for bugs with my friends.” Ashanti
We are so proud of how well Duckling Class represented our school. They were enthusiastic, respectful and eager to learn all about the natural world around them. A huge thank you to the staff at Little Foragers Forest School for such a fun and memorable experience!

YR4 Kingfisher Class News @FP
Tue 28 Apr 2026It’s been another busy and exciting week in Kingfisher Class @FP!
In English, we have been writing our own stories inspired by The Tunnel by Anthony Browne. The children have done a fantastic job developing atmosphere and tension, using descriptive language to bring their ideas to life.
In Maths, we have been learning how to tell the time. The children have been practising both reading and interpreting time—feel free to test them at home on o’clock, half past, quarter past/to, and beyond!
In Geography, we have been learning about settlements, exploring what makes a place suitable for people to live and how settlements develop over time.
In History, we have been studying the Early Islamic Empire, learning about its origins and the impact it had on the wider world.
We have also started our swimming lessons, which the children have been really enthusiastic about, and begun work on our exciting ‘Under the Sea’ mural project, which we will continue developing over the coming weeks.
As always, we are really proud of the children’s effort and attitude towards their learning.
Reminders:
- Swimming kit is needed every day for the next two weeks
- PE kit is required on Thursday for our session with the Teach Sport coach
Thank you for your continued support!

YR R/1 Dove Class News @FP
Fri 24 Apr 2026In Dove Class @FP we took a very exciting delivery of ten eggs this week. The children have watched and listened and after only 1 day most of the eggs had already hatched. The children observed and described what they look like and what noise they make. Next week we will be writing an information book all about the chicks. So over the weekend if you could talk to you children about chicks, questioning the children on what they look like and even do some research into what the chicks might eat and grow.
In maths the children have been learning to count in 2s, 5s and 10s. we have been looking at the patterns of counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and what numbers we say aloud.
In history we have been learning about the history of Catford, how Catford got its name and we have been looking at historical pictures of catford, discussing what is the same and what is different.

Oakbridge Nursery news
Thu 23 Apr 2026This week in Nursery, we stepped into the world of traditional tales and explored The Gingerbread Man!
The children had lots of fun colouring their gingerbread men, showing fantastic pencil control and trying really hard to stay within the lines. We then practised our cutting skills—snip, snip!
We also had some great discussions, answering the question: “Which part would you eat first?”
To finish our activity, the children got to decorate their very own real gingerbread biscuits… and of course, eat them! Just like in the story, “he was never seen again…”
Such a fun (and tasty!) week of learning!
