This half term, in Year 4 Kingfisher Class @FP, has been full of exciting learning across the curriculum. In Geography, we’ve been exploring rivers – learning how they are formed, identifying key features, and discovering some of the world’s most important rivers.

In History, we’ve stepped back in time to learn all about the Vikings, including how they travelled, where they settled, and what life was like during their time.

In Maths, we’ve focused on place value, developing a strong understanding of number and building confidence with larger numbers.

In English, we’ve enjoyed reading A Little Bit Brave, using the story to inspire our own writing and explore themes such as courage and friendship.

In PE, we’ve been working on our football skills, focusing on teamwork, coordination, and control. It’s been a fantastic half term, and the children should be really proud of all their hard work and enthusiasm!

  • YR R/1 Dove Class News @FP

    Thu 18 Sep 2025

This week in Dove class @FP we have been focusing on the story ‘After the Storm’ by Nick Butterworth.

This children have been describing the characters and the setting in the story and retelling the story to others.

In maths we have been learning how to count on from a given number as well as using manipulative to find out what 1 more looks like. We have also looked at 1 less than a given number and have been singing songs such as ‘5 cheeky monkeys’ and ‘5 little speckled frogs’.

In art this week, we have been looking at the artist Pier Mondrian and his style of art using squares, rectangles, lines and blocks of colour.

We were also very lucky this week to participate in a workshop that was based around the story of ‘Merlin’. The children learned a new song and played a stop and freeze game.

Thank you to those parents who sent in baby photos. The children have absolutely loved looking at the photos and trying to guess who the pictures belong to and discussing how we have changed.

We kindly remind parents to bring in book backs on a Monday and Tuesday for your children’s books to be changed.

    Thu 11 Sep 2025

    Year 6 Eagle class @FP

Today, we took our curious Year 5 and 6 adventurers on a short but meaningful trip across the road as part of the Mayor’s Community Weekend. Hosted by the Downham Nutrition Partnership at Goldsmiths Community Centre, the children explored a fascinating display of Downham’s history—complete with unique artefacts, vintage books, and captivating photographs.

Year 6 pupils were especially drawn to the World War 2 section, curated by the Downham Reminiscence Group back in 1988—perfect prep for their upcoming history topic on WW2! They asked insightful questions and were truly engrossed. Ask your child what they discovered—you might be surprised what their curious minds uncovered!
