YR3 Parakeet Class News @FP
Mon 31 Mar 2025In English Parakeet class @FP, we have been reading ‘Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx’ in English. We have loved learning all about Ancient Egypt ion History so have linked our learning to come up with some creative writing! We planned out our own adventure stories and have begun writing the plan into an extended piece of writing. We have been working really hard and have been trying to include the correct punctuation, interesting vocabulary, adjectives and excitement! Ask us about them.
Our topic in Science this term has been ‘Whiz, Pop, Bang!’ we have loved taking in part in experiments of our own choice. We have made rockets blow up, made chemical reactions, made raisins dance and learnt about dissolving. We have been thinking and talking scientifically and we have learnt how to make predictions and write up our science experiments.
In DT we have been looking at levers and linkages. We designed and made our own page from an animated book. We had so much fun completing this. We worked well as a team and all of our pages moved well. Ask us what linkages we used!

Rec Duckling Class @FP
Wed 19 Mar 2025This week, Duckling and Dove Class @FP had an incredibly exciting visit from our local firefighters! The children were thrilled to meet the crew, explore the fire engine, and even have a go at using the powerful fire hose.
The visit began with a talk from the firefighters, who explained their important job of keeping people safe and how they use their special equipment. The children listened carefully and asked lots of thoughtful questions, such as how fast the fire engine can go and what firefighters do when there isn’t a fire.
One of the highlights of the day was climbing inside the fire engine. The children got to sit where the firefighters sit and see all the different tools they use in an emergency. They were amazed at the loud siren and flashing blue lights!
After that, it was time to try out the fire hose! With the firefighters’ help, each child had a turn at aiming the powerful spray of water, just like real firefighters. The excitement and laughter were clear as they watched the water shoot across the playground.
The visit ended with a big thank-you to the firefighters for taking the time to teach us about fire safety and their incredible work. It was a truly memorable experience, and many of the children said they would love to be firefighters when they grow up!
A huge thank-you to the fire crew for giving the children such a fantastic hands-on experience. We can’t wait for another visit in the future!

Year 1/2 Heron Class News @FP
Mon 17 Mar 2025Year 1/2 Heron class @FP are learning about the famous artist, Van Gogh. We’ve learned about his background and his style. and now we are learning about his art. Did you know that Van Gogh loved using contrasting colours? Neither did we, but now we do! We saw examples of this in his art, and reminded ourselves of the primary and secondary colours, before designing a Van Gogh-style flower that shows contrasting colours. We hope you like it!
World Book Day in Heron was incredible! Firstly, the costumes – Wow! Who knew Spiderman was in so many books! Next, the reading activities! We were blessed with a VIP reader, we did drama, acting out famous stories, we read picture books to ourselves and each other, and even guessed the Masked Readers! What an amazing day to reinvigorate our love for reading. Bring it on again in 2026!
