  • REC Duckling Class News @FP

    Thu 28 Nov 2024

This week, Duckling class embarked on a heartwarming literary adventure with the beloved children's story Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. The enchanting tale, which follows a little boy who befriends a penguin lost in the city, captivated the imaginations of our young learners.
As the story unfolded, the children were immersed in the themes of friendship, kindness, and helping others. They engaged in thoughtful discussions about the characters' emotions and the importance of showing care and compassion. Many of our little ones expressed how they would feel if they found a lost penguin and how they could help others feel at home—just like the boy in the story.
To bring the story to life, the children participated in a range of creative activities. They worked together to draw their own interpretations of the boy and penguin, creating colorful illustrations inspired by the book’s beautiful artwork. They also enjoyed acting out key scenes, with some of our budding actors playing the roles of the boy and penguin, showcasing their growing confidence in both drama and empathy.
The children also participated in a “Lost and Found” treasure hunt in the classroom, where they worked as teams to find hidden objects and share them with their classmates, reinforcing the idea of teamwork and helping others in need.
It was a truly special experience for our Reception class, filled with laughter, learning, and a deeper understanding of the power of kindness. We look forward to exploring more stories that inspire such thoughtful reflections and connections!
Stay tuned for more updates from Reception, where we continue to grow, learn, and explore the world through stories!

  • YR6 Eagle Class News @FP

    Thu 21 Nov 2024

YR6 Eagle class @FP, have been immersed in the powerful graphic novel The Arrival by Shaun Tan. This week, the children delved into a thoughtful exploration of whether the main character should return to his home country or remain in his new one. They examined the challenges and opportunities faced by the character, using persuasive writing techniques to present their arguments.

By analysing persuasive devices like emotional language, logical reasoning, and rhetorical questions, the children crafted compelling letters aimed at guiding the main character towards making the best decision for his future. This activity not only enhanced their understanding of the story’s themes of migration and resilience but also honed their skills in crafting effective arguments, encouraging them to empathise with the character’s dilemma and consider the broader impact of his choices.
