YR1/2 Class News @FP
Fri 09 Oct 2026Year 2 @FP had an amazing time visiting Deptford Creekside Discovery Centre! We were learning all about The Great Fire of London, and we found out all about how the fire started, how long it lasted and why Samuel Pepys buried his wine and cheese!
We found out that fire was used for cooking and keeping warm, but that fire could also be very dangerous. Just like the baker Thomas Farriner, we got the chance to make our own bread!
We made a fire by finding flammable materials and then cooked our bread over it.
The best part was getting to eat our delicious bread afterwards, some of us had it with Jam! It was yummy!
We had so much fun getting hands-on with history and learning new skills. We were brave, curious and worked really well together. What an exciting day!

Rec Duckling Class @FP
Wed 07 Oct 2026Duckling Class @FP enjoyed a wonderful learning experience inspired by the story ‘The Colors of Us’ by Karen Katz. The story encouraged the children to celebrate the beautiful differences between us and recognise that everyone’s skin is a unique and special colour.
We talked together about our own “yummy colours”, using delicious descriptions to describe the different shades of our skin, such as peaches and cream, vanilla fudge, caramel and chocolate. The children loved looking carefully at themselves and sharing the colours they could see.
We then became colour-mixing artists, experimenting with different paints to create a shade that matched our own skin tone. The children discovered that they needed to mix several colours together and carefully adjust their mixtures until they were happy with the result.
Finally, everyone used their specially mixed colours to paint a self-portrait, thinking carefully about their skin, hair, eyes and individual features.
It was a lovely way for Duckling Class to explore identity, diversity and belonging, while developing their creativity, observation skills and understanding that we are all wonderfully unique.

Oakbridge Nursery news
Tue 06 Oct 2026We’ve had another busy and exciting few weeks in Nursery! It has been wonderful to see the children becoming increasingly confident and independent, developing friendships and becoming familiar with our Nursery routines.
Stories & Language: We have loved sharing stories including Owl Babies and You Choose – Fairy Tales. The children have been joining in with stories, learning new vocabulary and using their imaginations through small-world play, role play, mark-making and creative activities.
Maths: We have been developing our early maths skills through lots of practical play. The children have been counting, sorting and comparing, as well as exploring mathematical language such as big, small, more and less. We encourage the children to notice maths everywhere in their play!
Our Feelings: We have also been exploring feelings and emotions through The Colour Monster. The children have enjoyed thinking about the different colours and the feelings they represent, and talking about what might help us when we experience big feelings.
Our days continue to be filled with singing, nursery rhymes, mark-making, creative and messy play, stories and lots of outdoor exploration. We are especially proud of how the children’s confidence, communication and independence are growing.
Ask your child…
Can you remember what happened in Owl Babies?
Which Colour Monster matches how you are feeling today?
Can you find something big and something small at home?
Can you spot any numbers while you are out and about?Thank you for your continued support — we are very proud of everything the children are achieving!

YR1 Dove Class News @FP
Fri 02 Oct 2026In Dove Class @FP, we have been learning about Bonfire Night and the Gunpowder Plot.
We have explored the people involved and learned about the key events of the plot. We also discussed why Bonfire Night is still remembered and celebrated today.
As part of our learning, we have been practising the song ‘Remember, Remember’. We created our own actions to help us remember the words and bring the song to life.
We then had the exciting opportunity to perform the song for the Reception children. We shared our actions with them and told them all about the Gunpowder Plot. The children were very proud to share what they had learned!
