Our first writing project was a picture book which we shared with Year One and a memoir (memory) about a strong emotion felt. Check out our work in the pictures. We have now started a new writing project called 'The Natural World.' The final outcome will be a poem all about nature.

Nursery are loving our mud kitchen. Ms Poulsom has given the kitchen a spruce up ready for the endless amount of play that will be enjoyed. We cannot wait to see what dishes are going to be cooked up next. Check out our messy pizzas that we’ve been making and sharing with our friends. “Oh wait I forgot the salad”. πŸ•πŸ₯—πŸ’œπŸŒΏπŸŒΈ

  • Hummingbird class news @FP

    Wed 13 Sep 2023

In Year 1 Hummingbird class @FP, we have settled into our classroom and routines well. We have started daily supported reading and this takes place every morning between 9 and 9.30 am. In daily supported reading the children are grouped according to their reading ability and share a book with an adult.

We need to start reading on time so it is important that we complete our early morning work and register promptly before 9am. We ask parents to be on time and say goodbye to their children at the door. Children are now being encouraged to be independent and organise their own resources now they are in Year 1.

We have been looking at different stories and talking about what stories are like. We have noticed the key features of a book and sharing ideas about our own stories. We are now writing our own stories and becoming authors.

We have been exploring paints and colour mixing and have created some amazing self portraits. Click on the link below to view our self portrait gallery:

  • Puffin class news @FP

    Fri 08 Sep 2023

Welcome to Puffin Class. I am looking forward to working with you to ensure that your child has a happy, rewarding and successful year.

Our aim is for all children to reach their full potential in a happy, caring atmosphere, where everyone is valued. I want children to become self motivated, organised, responsible and considerate to others and the environment. I believe that enjoyment and willingness to learn are key factors in your child’s success at Forster Park Primary School.

In Week 1, as part of the settling in process, we covered a series of activities to help familiarise the children with the classroom and the daily activities and routines.

The children did a lot of interesting activities which included exploring colour through painting. We also made photo frames with pictures of our first week in school. The children have been getting to know each other and the staff a bit more and are beginning to feel a bit more settled in each other’s company. They are also getting to know the daily routines and seem to be settling into the early years’ environment well.

In Mathematics, we began learning our shapes and colours. We also did some counting and sorting.

In literacy, the children have been recognising their names and practising their handwriting. We are so impressed with those children who are already writing their name!

In Physical development the children have been exploring the equipment in the outdoor area and have been enjoying playing and interacting with each other.

Well done to all the children for a very good first week!

  • Nursery Class News

    Fri 08 Sep 2023

The children and staff have settled beautifully back at Oakbridge Nursery.

This week, we have had so many new friends come in to join us. We’ve been playing in the mud kitchen with our friends, showing our climbing and exploring our classrooms and garden.

It has been hot, hot, hot this week so snack time in the garden and water play has been our favourite thing to do.

We have been remembering and learning our ‘days of the week’ song as well as showing amazing listening during our story times.

Look at all the fabulous photos of our first week back at school.

We have had so much fun being back at school and being little busy bees, buzzing around with our friends and teachers.
