YR6 Hawk Class News @FP
Tue 02 Jul 2024This half term the children in YR6 Hawk class @FP thought they may be allowed to relax a bit – unfortunately, Forster Park was chosen for writing moderation leading us to spend a few weeks rewriting and editing previous work. The children worked hard and it was great to see the improvement in their writing. Marvellous Ajala wrote some beautiful pieces of fiction which moved the people assessing our work. The school achieved a pass rate of 73% and all the children should be proud in contributing to this mark which is above Lewisham’s and the National Average level of attainment (2023).
Biography (extract) by Marvellous Ajala:
My brother Emmanuel
Funny, loving, caring
Words are not easy
But the meaning is clear
In his eyes, in his smile
In his determination to prove his worth
My brother, Emmanuel
I wouldn’t change him for the world. After all the hard work, we finally were able to leave the school and run off on a school trip to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich and then onto the cable car over the Thames nearby. The students had a great time and did not moan about the walking (not much) and were so well behaved that it was commented upon by passers-by. The museum was extremely busy and there was so much to enjoy, especially the photographs within the exhibition for the Astronomy Photographer of the Year.

YR3/4 Starling Class News @FP
Wed 26 Jun 2024In Starling class @FP, our Art focus this term is Alberto Giacometti and sculpture. We have already learnt about his style of art and tried to recreate it using clay. We discovered we needed more support for the clay as our sculptures flopped down. This week, we are planning our own sculptures. Next week, we will be using metal wires and pipe cleaners to form the skeleton of our clay sculptures.

YR1 Hummingbird Class News @FP
Fri 21 Jun 2024The children, in Hummingbird class @FP, had an amazing day at Godstone Farm. We met lots of interesting animals and developed an understanding of our science topic ‘animals including humans’.
We were able to meet and touch different animals learning their names and observing their characteristics. We especially loved getting close to the animals during our handling session. When we return to school we will be writing a memoir of our exciting day.
In geography we have been thinking about how people’s jobs will impact on the clothes that they wear. We looked at farmers and discussed how their clothes would be different from a person who worked in an office and wore a suit.

YR1 Dove Class News @FP
Wed 12 Jun 2024In Dove class @FP, we have had a great first two weeks back at school and have loved sharing our holiday news.
We have been learning about poetry. We learnt about a poem called ‘The Crick Crack Crocodile’ which we created our own actions to and then performed to Reception who really enjoyed it. If you haven’t heard it already I’m sure the children could show you the actions at home. We looked at different styles of poems, some that were repeated poems and others that were rhyming. We then had a go at writing our own poems which will displayed in class.

Oakbridge Nursery news
Tue 11 Jun 2024Look at our hard working nursery children looking after our plants which are thriving in our garden due to the children making sure thay they have everything they need. Our plants are well watered (some are REALLY well watered), cared for by the children who planted them, and we’ve loved watching them grow. Have you realised how much our sunflowers have grown, they are are nearly as tall as US!
We’ve also been talking about how much we’ve all grown during our time in nursery. Our preschoolers are so ready for their next adventure into reception and we’ve loved watching them grow as much as the children have loved watching our plants grow!
