  • REC Duckling Class News @FP

    Mon 10 Mar 2025

This week in Reception Ducking Class @FP, we have been exploring the classic story of The Little Red Hen.

The children have enjoyed listening to and retelling the story, using actions and props to bring the characters to life. We have been learning all about teamwork, kindness, and the importance of helping others – just as the story teaches us.

To bring our learning to life, we became little bakers ourselves. The children worked together to mix, knead and bake their own delicious bread, just like the Little Red Hen did. They were fascinated by how the dough changed as we combined the ingredients, and they loved the smell of fresh bread baking in the oven. Of course, the best part was tasting it.

This hands-on experience helped us understand the story even more and sparked some great conversations about working together. Well done, Ducklings.

  • YR6 Eagle Class News @FP

    Thu 06 Mar 2025

This week in YR6 Eagle class @FP, our young poets have marched boldly into the world of war poetry, armed with figurative language and emotive imagery. Inspired by our history topic on World War II, we have explored powerful poems of the past, dissecting the impact of carefully chosen words. Before putting pen to paper, we delved into the critical moments of battle and the aftermath of war, shaping the theme and tone of our own work. With our poetry toolbox at the ready – rhythm, line breaks, rhyme, and repetition—we have crafted verses to be proud of. Now, with some final refining and polishing, these poetic masterpieces will soon be ready to take centre stage!

Growing and Waiting in Nursery! This week, we have been learning all about growing with the story Jasper’s Beanstalk!  Jasper was very impatient waiting for his bean to grow… and we learned that plants take time!

We planted our own beans and talked about the importance of patience while we wait for them to sprout.  Then, we had a very exciting moment—we finally dug up some of the carrots we planted last year!  After waiting and waiting and waiting, they were so big that we shared them with our school rabbits, Snowy and Cookie.  They LOVED their homegrown treats!

    Learning about growing, patience, and caring for nature—what a wonderful week!  #NurseryLife #GrowingTogether #JaspersBeanstalk #PatiencePaysOff #HomegrownGoodness
