Hawk class @FP have been incredibly busy and are already making amazing progress across all areas of our learning!

We kicked things off with some brilliant writing inspired by a Rock, Paper, Scissors video. The children let their imaginations run wild, creating exciting and detailed narratives that really brought the story to life – we’re so proud of their creativity and effort.

With the sunny weather on our side, we’ve also been spending plenty of time outdoors. Whether it's outdoor learning, playtimes or simply enjoying the fresh air, it’s been lovely to make the most of the sunshine.

Rehearsals are now in full swing for our upcoming school production of The Wizard of Oz! Hawk Class have thrown themselves into their roles with enthusiasm and we can’t wait to share the final performance with you – it’s already shaping up to be a show to remember.

In RE, we’ve been learning about different peace makers from around the world. The class have had some thoughtful discussions about what it means to make peace and how these inspirational individuals have made a difference.

And that’s not all! We’ve also launched our exciting enterprise project. The children are full of ideas and are busy planning and preparing for our after-school sales. Keep an eye out – we’ll be selling ice creams, brownies and all sorts of tasty treats!

In Year 2 Hummingbird class @FP, we have learned about Hokusai and his famous painting ‘The Great Wave’.

We learned to use line, shape and texture to have a go at recreating our own version. We discussed shading and how at the top of the wave is different to underneath the wave.

Kingfisher class @FP have been very busy mathematicians this term as they have been preparing for the multiplication times table check. They have to answer 25 times table questions and only have six seconds to answer them. Want to have a go? Click on the link below:

Young Entrepreneurs in Action!

This week, in YR6 Eagle class @FP our classrooms were transformed into a buzzing hub of business brilliance as the children kicked off their “Make My £10 Grow” project — all in aid of raising money for our much-anticipated trip to Chessington Park of Adventure!

Armed with just a tenner and an entrepreneurial spirit, the children teamed up to dream up creative ways to turn their £10 into a mini fortune. From product design to order forms and budgeting spreadsheets (yes, really!), they’ve already shown impressive teamwork, imagination, and initiative.

Over the next few weeks, they’ll be putting their plans into action — buying supplies, creating products, and learning the all-important skills of planning, budgeting, and financial responsibility. We’re sure you’ll agree: it’s never too early to learn how to manage money wisely, think creatively, and work collaboratively.

So keep an eye out — not just for budding business moguls, but for exciting fundraising ventures coming your way soon!

Duckling Class @FP Welcome Their Butterfly Friends! 

This week, the Reception Duckling class @FP had a very special moment in the garden – we released our butterflies.

Over the past few weeks, the children have been carefully looking after tiny caterpillars, watching them grow and change inside their classroom. They were amazed to see the caterpillars spin into chrysalises and waited patiently as they transformed.

On a sunny day, we all went outside to the school garden to release the butterflies. The children were so excited to open the net and watch the butterflies flutter into the sky. Some butterflies even landed nearby to say a little goodbye!

“It tickled my hand!” said Oluwayanmife, laughing.

We talked about how butterflies help flowers grow and how we can look after nature around us. The Ducklings waved and wished their butterfly friends a happy life in the garden.

What a wonderful way to finish our topic on growing and life cycles! Well done, Ducklings – you’ve been brilliant butterfly carers!

In Kestrel class @FP, in their English lesson, the children iresearched and learned about advocacy journalism, discovering how writing can be a powerful tool to highlight important issues and promote positive change. They explored the techniques used by advocacy journalists to inform and persuade readers. Using this knowledge, the students wrote their own advocacy journalism articles, focusing on causes they care about. This activity not only enhanced their research and writing skills but also encouraged them to think critically about social issues and how to use their voices to make a difference.

In Parakeet class @FP, we have been looking at the work of Krystie Rose Millich in Art. We decided we love her cool mosaics. We have also been learning about ‘The Romans’ in History. We learnt that The Romans loved mosaics too. We then chose to design our own. What do you think?

In English we have been looking at poetry. We looked at different poetry devices and chose to write a poem about animals. We have used alliteration and similes and some of us included metaphors. We are really proud of our work. At the end of the week we will be publishing our poems and performing them to another class.

Tutankhamun Immersive Experience – We were lucky enough to experience the Tutankhamun Experience in London today. We absolutely loved it. We got to see real life artifacts, read about Ancient Egypt and wear VR headsets and experience what it was like in Ancient Egypt for ourselves. We had lunch together in the sun and went on three trains! We were exhausted when we got back but we had a fantastic day! Here are some of our pictures.

 

Dove and Duckling Class @FP – A Wild Encounter with Stu the Ranger!

This week, the Dove and Duckling classes had a very exciting visit from Stu the Ranger, who brought along a variety of fascinating animals for us to meet and learn about.

The children were thrilled to get up close with Minton the Tortoise, Sandra the Snake, Tallulah the Tarantula, Bubbles the Tenrec, and Flaviah the Armadillo. We explored what types of animals they were – reptiles, mammals, and arachnids—and discussed their unique features and habitats.

The children asked brilliant questions and were incredibly curious, making it a fun and educational experience for everyone. A big thank you to Stu the Ranger for such a memorable visit!

The children have also been looking at the story ‘Brown bear Brown bear’ and having a go at writing their own version of the story using various describing words.

Within the last two weeks the children have been looking at finding half of shapes and of amounts by folding paper, cutting shapes and sharing amount equally. We then moved on to finding what a quarter of a shape and amount practically.
