Parakeet Class @FP: We have been looking at fables this week. We looked at common features within them. We went on to plan our new characters, setting and plot and will be writing them next week. Have a look at our story plans.

In Maths we have been learning got multiply a three-digit number by a one-digit number. We spent a long time practicing and it took us a whole week but we have finally mastered it!

In Science we are learning about Electricity. We managed to make our own simple circuit in class. We then drew and labelled our work.

Our Art focus this term is Pop Art. We have been learning all about famous pop art artists. We then made our own versions of their work. What do you think?

This half term Dove class @FP have been learning about Toys – Old and New.

We have looked at old and new toys, discussed what we liked and disliked about them as well as the materials they were made of and how they have changed.

Please talk to your children about your favourite toys when you was a child to support this learning.

Last week we were luck enough to have a toy workshop where we had to become toys in a toy shop. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

In maths we have been learning about numbers from 11-20 and how to use a number line.

In geography we have been learning about the UK. We have been singing a song about the different countries that make up the United Kingdom as well as learning abut the capitals cities.

As it is the Spring term and your children have settled in beautifully there may be some upcome trips, so please watch this space.

This week we’ve been enjoying the story Lost and Found, which inspired us to learn all about Arctic animals and where they live around the world 🌍❄️
We explored colour mixing using cold blue colours, created “lost” posters for the penguin, drew pictures of him, and described what he looks like while carefully looking at colours 🎨✏️

We also had lots of fun working together on our Arctic puzzle — it was a big favourite! 🧩💙

Such a lovely week of learning, creativity and teamwork ✨

There was great excitement in Duckling Class @FP this week when our class puppet, Zig, went missing! The children quickly noticed that Zig was nowhere to be found and decided we needed to help find her.

First, Mr Bond checked the school cameras to see if they could help us solve the mystery. On the footage, he spotted Zig walking outside the school gates! This gave the children an important clue and we began our investigation to find out where she had gone.

The class worked together to create missing posters with pictures and descriptions of Zig. The children carefully wrote and decorated the posters and then put them up around the school to help everyone keep an eye out for her.

To make sure Zig could be found as quickly as possible, the children even decided to call 999 to ask the police for help. We explained that our puppet had disappeared and that we were very worried about her.

Luckily, the police were able to help! Zig was eventually spotted sitting right on top of the Catford Cat. Thankfully, PC Pooke rescued her and brought her safely back to school in the back of his police car.

The children were thrilled to have Zig returned to us and loved hearing about how the police help people in our community every day. It was a fantastic way for the children to learn about the important role the police play in keeping us safe.

Well done to all the Reception children for being such brilliant detectives!

Today Hummingbird class @FP visited the Forest School house, which had been set up for a special book surprise. Mrs Anderson, with the help from a jolly festive fellow, had books covering the benches and surfaces - and we could choose one to take home for ourselves! To help us, we had task cards that got us thinking about book types, and we used these helping cards to choose a book we would like. What a fantastic surprise! 

Year 4 Kingfisher Class @FP have had a very busy and festive end to the term! In English, the children wrote their own Christmas stories, planning imaginative plots and using descriptive language to bring their ideas to life. We have also been practising our singing in preparation for our Christmas concert, and the children have shown great enthusiasm and confidence.

As we prepared for the Christmas break, we enjoyed lots of festive activities, including a fun Grinch Day where we watched The Grinch, and a delicious Christmas dinner which was enjoyed by everyone. In maths, the children have continued to practise their times tables, building speed and confidence.

We have also been finishing off our Viking unit, where the children have worked hard to deepen their understanding of Viking life and history. It has been a wonderful end to the term, and we are very proud of all their efforts.

WE CAN’T WAIT FOR CHRISTMAS!!! 

Hawk Class @FP had a wonderful opportunity to visit the historic Tower of London as part of our Crime and Punishment topic. During the trip, we were guided around by a costumed historical figure who brought the past to life with fascinating stories about prisoners, punishments, and the Tower’s dramatic history.

One of the highlights of the visit was being challenged to come up with our own ideas for escaping the Tower. Pupils used their imagination, teamwork, and everything they had learned this term to design clever (and sometimes daring!) escape plans. From secret tunnels to disguises and coded messages, the creativity on display was fantastic.

The visit was a brilliant way to bring our learning together and a memorable end to our Crime and Punishment unit. Hawk Class returned to school excited, inspired, and full of new knowledge about one of Britain’s most famous landmarks.

This week the children

This week has been full of creativity in Nightingale @FP, teamwork and learning across the class. The children enjoyed taking part in a hands-on cooking workshop where they learned where food comes from and developed important life skills such as safely chopping ingredients and preparing a fresh pasta sauce using herbs.

Emile was awarded a Headteacher’s Award for creating an outstanding paper snowflake, demonstrating impressive concentration and patience.

Alex showed great perseverance by constructing an incredibly long paper chain, before working together with his classmates to decorate our classroom for the festive season.

Emile and Alex also worked very well during Lego Therapy this week, successfully completing a build through teamwork and communication.

Aaron produced a thoughtful self-portrait and a colourful poster promoting love and kindness, while Rafael wrote an excellent fact file about Father Christmas, focusing carefully on paragraphing and sentence structure. We are very proud of the effort, creativity and positive attitudes shown by all the children this week.

This week Dove class @FP

This week in Dove class @FP – THE ELF IS BACK!!! He has been causing mischief and moving around the class all week. The children have love writing about him and what he has got up to each day.

In English we have been looking at the story ‘The way back home’ by Oliver Jeffers. We have been sequencing the story and writing sentences on what they can see in each picture.

It has also been assessment week and the children have tried really hard, remembering all that they have learned.

Dove and Duckling classes have been practising for their Christmas performance, singing songs and  learning the actions. The Christmas performances is on the 15th at 9.30am and 2.30pm. The children will need to come to school in their Christmas jumpers please. Please remember to logon to Arbor to book your tickets.
