YR6 Eagle and Hawk Class News @FP
Mon 21 Jul 2025The last few weeks at school for Year 6 @FP have been a whirlwind of emotions, excitement, and reflection. As we come to the end of our primary school journey, we’ve been busy finishing off our final pieces of work and putting in all our energy and passion into our production of The Wizard of Oz. We truly hope you enjoyed watching it, because performing it was such a special experience for us – a chance to shine, work as a team, and make unforgettable memories. We also received our SATs results, and we couldn’t be prouder of ourselves and each other. All the hard work, determination, and support from our teachers really paid off, and we’re so thankful.
What a day! Last Friday, our brilliant Year 6 pupils swapped their school shoes for adventure mode as they took on the thrills of Chessington World of Adventures. Yes — it was a scorcher of a day, and yes — the queues were long, but that didn’t stop the laughter, the ice creams, the sweets or the fearless rides (some teachers may or may not still be recovering from the Tiger Rock ride!). The children were buzzing with excitement, making memories that will last well beyond Year 6. Their energy, courage, and joy reminded us just how special this group is — and we know they’ll take that same spirit into secondary school, where they’ll no doubt continue to shine like the stars they are.
More than anything, these last days have been about enjoying time together – laughing, reminiscing, and soaking in every moment with our friends and teachers who have supported us throughout the years. It’s been emotional, knowing we’re about to start a new chapter, but also exciting as we look forward to what’s ahead. To celebrate all we’ve achieved, we’re now looking forward to our end-of-year trip to Chessington on Friday 18th July – a perfect way to end an amazing year. Year 6, you’ve been incredible!

YR2 Hummingbird Class News @FP
Tue 15 Jul 2025Year 2 Hummingbird class @FP, we have been learning about Amanda Browder and have had a go at making our own pieces of art using fabric. We considered colours, using our knowledge of warm, cool and complementary colours, and we worked together to create a piece of art, just like Amanda Browder did. She would get a whole community together to sew pieces of donated fabric!

Year 1/2 Heron Class News @FP
Fri 11 Jul 2025Year 1/2 Heron class @FP: It wasn’t just Sports day that made our week so special! On Wednesday, Nas, a South London firefighter from Croydon, came to talk to us about fire safety. We talked about what we know about fire safety and how it has changed in London, then about how to call for help when we need it. We went over hazards in the house, and how to alert our adults in an emergency. Nas rhymes better than a poet, so we had plenty of catchy slogans to chant about keeping safe. Nas you’re the best, you stop us being stressed!

Rec Duckling Class @FP
Tue 08 Jul 2025Exploring Our Future Selves with AI!
This week in Duckling Class @FP, we’ve been using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help us imagine the exciting jobs we might like to do when we grow up!
As part of our learning around Understanding the World and Technology in the Early Years, the children have been exploring how computers can help us learn, create, and express ourselves. Using a child-friendly AI tool, the children shared their dream jobs — from astronauts and vets to footballers and bakers — and watched as the computer helped bring those ideas to life through pictures and descriptions.
This activity supported several areas of learning, including:
Communication and Language – sharing ideas and asking questions
Expressive Arts and Design – using imagination and creativity
Understanding the World – talking about the roles of people in our community and exploring technology
Personal, Social and Emotional Development – building confidence to talk about themselves and their aspirationsThe children loved seeing themselves “in the future” and it sparked some wonderful conversations about growing up, helping others, and all the possibilities ahead.
Come and take a look at our colourful AI Careers Display in the Reception Class corridor – we think you’ll be inspired too!

YR4 Kingfisher Class News @FP
Mon 07 Jul 2025Kingfisher Class @FP have been writing fables to share with Year 2. Fables are short stories which have animals as their main characters and always end on a moral. They have worked really hard to develop their characters and plot. This week, we are writing memoirs to share with our new class teacher and our families. Please look out for them soon.
“In my fable, Panda judges Parrot because he has really sharp claws. Panda figures out Parrot is good and kind. The moral is ‘never judge a book by it’s cover.” – Kaitlin.
“So there is a shark who is very greedy and rude to the other whales. They play a trick on shark and he figures out to not be greedy.” – Yigit.

YR3 Parakeet Class News @FP
Tue 01 Jul 2025In Design and Technology in Parakeet class @FP, we have been learning about The Romans in History. We decided to create our own Roman shields in Design and Technology. We planned and designed them first then selected the materials we needed to create them. We even thought about our family crests and what they might look like. What do you think?
In English we have been working towards writing our own fables. We looked at features of fables, created our own characters and came up with a moral for our fable. We have also been working really hard on our handwriting. We published them this week. Have a look at our work!
In Art we have been looking at emotions and how we can create Art that makes us feel something. We looked at colours we could use to depict different emotions. We thought about what we could actually draw/paint to give the impression of different feelings. Can you guess which emotions we have created?
Jefte has been typing short stories on a laptop and created 5 last week alone! We are really proud of him and his work. Well done Jefte!

YR4/5 Kestrel Class News @FP
Mon 30 Jun 2025Kestrel Class @FP Geography Fieldwork Trip to Forster Park
This week, Kestrel Class took part in an exciting geography fieldwork trip to Forster Park. The children had the opportunity to engage in a variety of hands-on activities designed to develop their observation, recording, and map-reading skills.
As part of their fieldwork, the pupils sketched a map of the park and carefully labelled key landmarks, such as the playground, walking trails, and wooded areas. They also conducted a wildlife survey, using tally charts to record sightings of birds, butterflies, and other animals throughout the park.In the wooded section of the park, children observed and noted the types of trees and collected different leaves, recording their findings to help identify tree species and understand seasonal changes. They also measured and recorded levels of noise pollution in different areas of the park, comparing how noise levels varied near roads, open spaces, and quiet wooded paths.
Additionally, the pupils carried out a survey of park users at different times of the day. They recorded the number of cyclists, pedestrians, and dogs observed in various parts of the park, helping them to understand patterns of human activity and how different areas of the park are used by the community.
The trip provided a valuable opportunity for real-world learning, encouraging curiosity, careful observation, and a deeper understanding of the local environment.Kestrel had the best day ever!
