YR3 Parakeet Class News @FP

In Parakeet class @FP, our Geography focus this term has been to explore the Rainforest, its plants and animal species. We have learnt how the Rainforest serves the function of being the lungs of earth. The children learnt to search for information independently, analyse, and present the findings within an ‘explanation’ leaflet.

Using English skills to develop their research, provided each child with the freedom to explore the topic, enabling them to be motivated and creative to writing for a purpose.

The children have explained that the Rainforest does a few things that are super important for our life and planet.  Plants use photosynthesis to take carbon dioxide (CO2) and make oxygen (O2), which we all need to breath and survive. This is why the Amazon can be called ‘The Lungs of the Earth’.
