Duckling Class Dive Into Jack and the Beanstalk 

We’ve had a magical start to the summer term in Duckling Class @FP, as the children returned full of energy after the Easter break!  This week, Reception have been exploring the classic tale of Jack and the Beanstalk.

From sequencing the story to acting out key scenes, the children have been captivated by Jack’s brave adventure. They’ve especially loved planting their own magic beans —we can’t wait to see if any giant beanstalks appear in our classroom garden! 

We’ve been using the story to inspire learning across all areas, including:

Writing: Creating “wanted” posters for the giant and writing letters from Jack.

Maths: Counting and measuring beans, stalks, and golden eggs, as well as learning about odd and even numbers through fun and practical activities.

Expressive Arts: Designing castles in the clouds and role-playing the story with props and costumes.

It’s been a brilliant start to the new half-term, and we’re excited to see where our learning takes us next.
